RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS

UC Berkeley College of Engineering faculty have numerous individual relationships with colleagues around the world with whom they conduct collaborative research.  In order to achieve greater scale to conduct a greater breadth of research in areas of specific interest to partner countries and universities, the GLOBE Center has worked with faculty and the administration to establish research partnerships with multiple (10+) UCB Faculty and counterparts in partner locations.

To date a sampling of a few of such collaborations are:

  • Singapore BEARS: The Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore

Singapore BEARS

Established in 2013, the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore has focused on energy research, from energy efficient and sustainable buildings in the tropics to advanced materials for energy technologies.  BEARS faculty work with colleagues at the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University on numerous projects, also engaging with industry, and conducting concurrent research at UC Berkeley. BEARS maintains its own offices and laboratories at the CREATE campus in Singapore.
