EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS
The GLOBE Center works with partner universities around the world to develop visiting scholar and visiting undergraduate student programs. Partner institutions are those universities with whom faculty or departments have developed a research or other programmatic relationship and find collaboration mutually beneficial.
Our visiting scholar programs enable post-doctoral and other post-graduate scholars to come to Berkeley Engineering to carry out research with our renowned faculty. These programs are usually funded by government resources that enable their citizens to study abroad to advance their capabilities in a field or fields or to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
Our visiting student programs enable small cohorts from partner universities to study in the College of Engineering in a specific set of courses in which there is availability for concurrent enrollment. Depending on the goals of the partner institution and the College of Engineering departments or educational units (such as the Jacobs Institute), students are able to study in the College of Engineering for one semester or one year. Students do not receive a UC Berkeley degree but do receive an official transcript for the courses they take. To ensure credit at their home institution for the courses taken at UC Berkeley, the courses available in any given year must be pre-approved by the home institution.
